Style Mafia: A Board Game

In collaboration with Sky Ta, Style Mafia is a board game suitable for 2 to 4 players, approximate game play is 20–40 minutes; available for the ages 13+. Players (or mafias) are against each other by trying to complete their outfits first either by drawing or trading cards.

  • In Style Mafia, players (a.k.a. mafias) are against each other by trying to complete their outfits first. This is a competitive game. The one with the highest score at the end of the game ends wins.

  • The game ends when a player collects all the basic clothing cards needed for their clothing set.

  • Players try to complete the clothing set (Set 1, 2, 3, or 4) corresponding to the playing pieces they have (each playing piece is numbered 1, 2, 3, or 4).

Contents

  • 60 Number Cards (Numbered 1 to 6)

  • 24 Clothing Cards (16 Basic Clothing Cards, 4 Specialty Cards, and 4 Challenge Cards)

  • 24 Mystery Cards (12 Good Cards and 12 Bad Cards)

  • 4 Playing Pieces

  • Game Board

Setup

  • Players should have utensils to keep track of their scores as the game goes.

  • Place the board within easy reach of all players. Each card deck should be shuffled and placed in their indicated place on the board.

  • Each player chooses a playing piece (1, 2, 3, or 4). All players will then choose one of the two Good Space on the game board and place their playing pieces on it. This is the starting point.

  • Players play Rock-Paper-Scissors, the winner goes first and all following turns go in clockwise direction (next turn should be the person on last player’s left) until a “Switch direction” card is withdrawn.

Actions

You must take one action each turn. An action could be one of the followings:

  • Collect: Player withdraws a Number Card and moves their playing piece that same amount of spaces on the game board. Player then picks a card from the Clothing Cards deck and could decide to either keep the card or discard it by placing recently-picked card to the bottom of the deck.

  • Exchange: Player exchange a clothing item with another player’s item.
