A final project for Integrative Studio 2
Kylie Bryant & I wanted to focus on romance and the action of story-telling in fairytales. Our previous work had thematic elements of love and dating. My previous project entailed the idea of retyping archetypes such as developing Snow White in the Big Apple while Bryant wrote about Alice in Wonderland. This led to the collaboration between the both of us honing similar aspects of our previous stories to create a unified collection of bedtime stories.
Both of our retellings deal with digital courtship in this growing age of technology. We decided to incorporate that into our final product–and through that line of thought we came to this zine project which is heavily visual based. This is a series of bedtime stories told by men through the dating/hookup app, Tinder. The images that coincide with these stories are visual representations of these submitted stories that evoke the feelings told from these strangers–this is modern courtship in The Big Apple.
